W. A. Mozart: klaviersonaten Kv331, Kv309 and Kv311
What he performs...
"Interpreting music requires tremendous humility. The great composers and their music influenced our world for centuries. Being humble enables me to feel much deeper and think more carefully what they had in mind when they wrote their scores. After all, they are the ones who wrote it, not me."
How he performs...
"A great performance is not about hitting every note correctly. Nor is a great performance about conveying emotions by wildly moving one’s body, arms, and hands – these are all distractions. An honest performance is making the music communicate itself by grabbing my audience by the hearts and let them hear both the sweetness and bitterness of life."
Where he performs...
"A good piano starts with a good soundboard. The wood has to be the finest pick. The wood grains need to be very close together so that the soundboard can vibrate enough to carry a rich and wonderful sound to the audience. Then I inspect other areas of the piano, such as the hammers, dampers, and jacks, to make sure they are properly adjusted."
